It is distilled in copper degs over a wood fire, the way Kannauj does it. We find a single drop on the wrist lasts the day.
A drop on your wrist, or a drop offered to the deity at your altar. The rose is distilled into a sandalwood base by an attar house in Kannauj, in copper degs over a wood fire, the Kannauj way. Kannauj Perfume carries a GI tag. The 5 ml cut-glass bottle comes in a wooden case, so it can sit on the altar or go in your bag.
Fragrance is one of the offerings in a full puja, and itr is how it is given when sandal paste is not to hand. A drop goes on the deity's cloth or on a flower before it is placed at Lakshmi's or Krishna's feet, and in Braj temples it is dabbed on Krishna's clothes through the hot months. Families bring it out for Diwali, for weddings, and as a return gift at the end of a family puja.
