Incense with no charcoal
A masala stick is powder and resin rolled on bamboo. If the ash is black and the smoke stings your eyes, there is charcoal and perfume in it. Ours burn to a soft grey ash.

Bhimseni camphor, not synthetic
Natural camphor burns away completely and leaves the plate clean. Synthetic camphor leaves a sticky ring and a chemical smell.

Questions people ask about puja essentials
- How much samagri does a household use in a month?
- For a short daily puja, roughly 60 incense sticks, 100 g of camphor, 250 ml of ghee for the lamp, and a small pack each of kumkum and haldi. The Daily Puja Box starts you off with a brass diya and bell, 60 Mysore sandalwood sticks, 100 g of Bhimseni camphor and 50 cotton wicks.
- Is the ghee suitable for cooking?
- Yes. It is A2 Gir cow ghee, made by the bilona method, and food grade. Many families keep one jar for the lamp and prasad and another in the kitchen.
- How should I store incense and camphor?
- Sealed, cool and dry. Camphor slowly evaporates through a loose lid, and incense loses its fragrance in humid air.
