From the Shiwalay desk
Ask any seller whether their Meru is hollow or solid, and what it weighs. A solid 3-inch brass Meru is close to half a kilo. A hollow one is a shell that dents in the post.
About this piece
The Meru, or Maha Meru, is the Shree Yantra raised into three dimensions: the nine triangles stepped into a pyramid with the bindu at the peak. This one is solid cast brass, not a hollow shell, with the tiers finished by hand so each level reads cleanly. Brass is the practical choice for a home or office because it takes daily handling, needs only an occasional polish, and costs far less than sphatik at the same size. The often-repeated ranking of crystal over copper over brass has no basis in the texts; what matters is correct geometry and a daily practice.
