Red sandalwood has almost no fragrance, which surprises people who expect chandan to smell. We value it for the colour and the density, which keep the carved lines crisp for decades.

About this piece

For a Lakshmi or Durga altar where you would rather have wood than metal. The Shree Yantra is carved in low relief into a block of rakta chandan, the deep-red sandalwood tradition reserves for Devi worship, in Tirupati district. The nine interlocking triangles are cut by hand and checked against a geometry template, because uneven triangles make it only decoration. A wooden stand and a placement card are in the box.
