Every grain and herb is labelled by graha, so your family can follow the vidhi card even without a pandit present.
A navgrah havan asks for a different grain for each of the nine grahas, and it is easy to lose track once the fire is lit. This kit from Haridwar holds 500 g of havan samagri, ghee, mango samidha and the nine grains, each labelled by graha. A step-by-step vidhi card takes you through the havan in order.
A navgrah havan honours the nine grahas of jyotish, from Surya to Ketu, with ahutis offered into a fire of mango samidha. Each graha has its own grain, and the ahutis are counted, traditionally 108. Families hold it at griha pravesh, before a mundan, or on a Saturday or birth nakshatra day when a pandit suggests it.
